History of Spence Clarke & Co.
The company was formed in 1985 by a major firm of UK based international accountants.
The firm has been throughout one of the very few tax and accountancy businesses located in southern Spain, fully authorised to practice by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and is one of the largest independent accountancy practices in the Costa del Sol.
The Partners
Alistair Spence Clarke FCA:Alistair is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and a member of the leading Spanish professional accountancy and tax organisations the Instituto de Censores Jurados de Cuentas de España and the Asociacion Española de Asesores Fiscales.He is also registered as an auditor in ROAC, the Spanish auditors registration authority and is a registered auditor of Gibraltar.
With 28 years of experience as a Chartered Accountant, half in public practice in Spain and previously as a partner of a major UK firm, he has a wealth of knowledge that is matched by few individuals in southern Spain.He is in charge of corporate and personal tax consultancy.
Alistair arrived in Spain in 1989 to run the office.
Susan Spence Clarke:Susan also arrived in Spain in 1989 and set up her own Accountancy software company.The company proved very successful, with many installations in Gibraltar mainly in the Banking and Company Manager sectors.The company was sold in 1991 when Susan decided to join forces with Alistair and together they took over the practice in April of that year.
Susan is responsible for all the firm’s non resident Spanish property owning clients and Spanish company property owners. She advises clients on inheritance tax, capital gains tax and annual taxes that arise from property ownership, including advice on tax issues arising from both purchase and sale of Spanish properties.
