At Spence Clarke, we firmly believe that building strong professional relationships goes hand in hand with providing an exceptional service to our clients. For this reason, we are proud members of FORE Business, a business networking organisation that connects professionals and companies through networking events, business meetings and charity golf tournaments, creating opportunities to establish valuable relationships and generate new business.
FORE Business organises between four and five golf events each month at some of the Costa del Sol’s finest courses. As active members, we aim to participate in at least one of these events every month.
Spence Clarke is represented at these tournaments by partners Miguel Ángel Blanca, Alistair Spence Clarke and Susan Spence Clarke, together with members of our team Javier Osorio and Helio Carmona. These events not only provide an excellent opportunity to strengthen existing business relationships but also to meet new professionals in a relaxed and enjoyable environment.
Last Monday’s tournament took place at the beautiful Santa Clara Golf Marbella, where Miguel Ángel represented the firm. He found himself playing in a group where every other golfer had a lower handicap than his own. Despite this, he was playing exceptionally well throughout the round.
As the group reached the 16th hole, one of his fellow competitors turned to him and said, “Miguel Ángel, I think you are winning.” Miguel Ángel later admitted that hearing those words immediately made him nervous. Wanting to protect his position, he adopted a much more conservative approach over the next two holes, which affected his confidence and performance.
Fortunately, by the time he reached the final hole, he had regained his composure and returned to the confident style of golf that had served him so well throughout the day. His strong finish secured an excellent victory and first place in the tournament.
As always, the day was enjoyed in a wonderful atmosphere filled with laughter, friendly competition and excellent company. Events such as these perfectly reflect the spirit of FORE Business, where professional networking is combined with sport, friendship and mutual support.
