Charity Golf Tournament 2018

by

Spence Clarke’s 10th Annual Charity Golf Day 2018 in aid of the Alzheimers Association, Marbella raised a marvellous €8,006.62!

This year’s 10th Annual Charity Golf Day was held on Sunday, 20th May 2018. We had a good team turnout and many of the tees were taken by sponsors, for which we are very grateful. Once again we returned to the fabulous El Paraiso Golf Club, which looked as beautiful as ever. It’s amazing how they manage this year on year.

The winning teams were:

  • 1st place: Shuj Datoo, Mark Bruce, Bill James, Duncan Elliott – net score 59.5
  • 2nd place: David Steele, Danni Worth, Keith Johnson, Peter Lawton – net score 62
  • 3rd place: Mike Barkess, David Wilkes, Jack Wilkes, Susan Dale – net score 62.2

For all the golfing details of the day please go to the Golf the Costa website

A huge thank you to all you golfers for your generosity and for taking part in the competition.

And of course, thank you to all the hole sponsors, your presence provided a special atmosphere. Your support made the day a great success.

We received huge support from sponsors of the auction with some superb prizes, raising €1,475. There were some incredible items donated for the raffle, which raised an amazing €1,247, a big thank you to all those who bought raffle tickets and an especially big thank you to the Spence Clarke Team who did their usual excellent job of selling so many.

The whole day resulted in the amount of €8,006.62 being raised, due to the generosity of the Spence Clarke staff members, who donated their travelling expenses for the day, we were able to tip over the €8,000.

Huge thanks must go to David and Robert, together with the whole fabulous El Paraiso team, who ensured everything ran smoothly on the day.

Paul and his catering team also deserve huge praise for producing a scrumptious Indian themed lunch, which was superb last year, however incredibly, they were able to even surpass this. How do they do it?

Ken Lingwood of Gecko Tours stood in for our resident auctioneer Giles Brown who was whisked off the British Embassy in Madrid to participate in the Royal Wedding Celebrations. Ken did an amazing job and we extend a huge thank you not only for standing in as auctioneer but also for acquiring a unique auction item.

Thank you to too to our IT guy, David Friend for his continued support and effort in producing the wonderful flyers and this page. If you are ever looking for a solution to any IT problem, you should contact David at david@systembit.com

Thanks also go to Shuj Datoo and Mark Bruce from Golf the Costa, for their unstinting efforts and commitment to the day. Thank you both so much, so generous and, as always, a delight to work with!

And last but not least a humungous thank you to everyone who supported the day. As usual your generosity was quite overwhelming. We shall be placing the usual ‘Thank You’ advertisement in the glamorous Essential Magazine, July edition.
