Spence Clarke was honored to be invited by Sur in English to the second edition of their 2024 Top International Business Guide and Awards. The event took place on May 28 at the Beach Club of the Holiday World Resort in Benalmadena, a stunning seaside resort comprising three hotels, an apartment complex, and a spectacular beach club.
The event was graced by distinguished guests, including the British Ambassador to Spain, Hugh Elliott, the Mayor of Benalmadena, Juan Antonio Lara Martin, and representatives from various businesses, authorities, and organizations. Spence Clarke was well represented by Alicia Jimenez, the managing partner of the commercial department.
Ambassador Elliott emphasized the strong historical and economic ties between the UK and Spain, highlighting ongoing efforts to support British expatriates and enhance bilateral cooperation post-Brexit.
Ambassador Elliott, who has a deep personal connection with Spain, shared his insights on British tourism in Spain, particularly in light of Brexit challenges. He described the Spanish tourism industry as strong, dynamic, and adaptable. Despite Brexit, British tourists continue to favour Spain, and in recent years, the number of British tourists in Spain has been significant. Mr. Elliott also discussed the importance of cultural and social integration, underlining the shared values and mutual respect that characterize UK-Spain relations.
The event at Holiday World Resort was part of a broader initiative to engage with British communities in Spain and address their concerns about living abroad post-Brexit. It provided a platform for dialogue and reinforced the commitment of both nations to maintaining strong and productive ties.
