Last Friday evening, 5 June, members of the Spence Clarke team had the pleasure of attending the annual Summer Gala organised by the charity Collective Calling. The event took place at the magnificent Cortijo de Cortes in Benahavís, a truly stunning venue surrounded by nature.
As the evening unfolded, guests were treated to breathtaking views across the countryside and were fortunate to enjoy the beautiful colours of the sunset painting the sky. The peaceful setting provided the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable evening dedicated to supporting a wonderful cause.
The event began with a welcome drink served in the entrance courtyard, beside an elegant water fountain and a traditional Andalusian patio adorned with colourful flowers. Whilst guests mingled, a delightful fashion show took place featuring young models wearing beautiful dresses designed by Rosario de Armenteras. It was a charming and elegant start to the evening.
Following the reception, guests were invited into the cortijo’s impressive bullring, where the tables had been beautifully arranged facing the main stage. Paul and Gemma, founders of Collective Calling, addressed those present and shared the remarkable progress being achieved through the charity’s work in Tanzania.
Their presentation highlighted the life-changing support being provided to vulnerable children who would otherwise be living on the streets. Through the generosity of sponsors and donors, these children are not only given a safe home but also access to private education and opportunities that can transform their future.
At Spence Clarke, we are already proud sponsors of Royce and Rahel. Inspired by the stories shared during the evening and the incredible work being undertaken by the charity, we made the decision to sponsor two additional children. We firmly believe that investing in the lives of young people can make an enormous difference and create opportunities that may otherwise never exist.
Throughout the evening, guests enjoyed a delicious meal accompanied by wonderful entertainment. Two talented flamenco dancers captivated the audience with an elegant and passionate performance that showcased the beauty of Andalusian culture.
Just when it seemed the evening could not become any more impressive, guests were treated to a spectacular equestrian display. A beautifully trained horse performed alongside its rider in a mesmerising routine. The performance then became even more magical when an elegant dancer joined the horse and rider, creating a truly unforgettable spectacle that received enthusiastic applause from everyone present.
The charity auction that followed generated tremendous excitement. A wide variety of exceptional prizes were offered, including luxury stays at exclusive retreats such as Cueva del Gato, hotel experiences in Tenerife and Gibraltar, boat trips, and artworks by the talented Carlos M. Luque. The generosity shown by attendees throughout the auction was inspiring. We are delighted to say that Spence Clarke was successful in securing one of the Gibraltar hotel stays.
As the evening drew to a close, guests gathered to enjoy the final part of the celebrations, where a DJ provided the musical backdrop whilst a talented live guitarist performed alongside the music. The combination of contemporary tracks and live guitar created a fantastic atmosphere and added a unique energy to the event. For those of us who appreciate a great guitar performance, it was the perfect finishing touch to an already exceptional evening.
We would like to congratulate Paul and Gemma for organising such a memorable evening. Their dedication continues to change lives and provide hope and opportunity to children who need it most.
Spence Clarke is honoured to support their work and looks forward to continuing this partnership in the years ahead.
